I have been writing professionally since 1987, when I graduated from Tufts University with a BA magna cum laude in English. In the early days of my freelance writing career, I contributed lifestyle and interview articles to newspapers in Connecticut as well as national magazines such as Bride's and Bridal Guide.

For the last several years other people have benefited from my writing talents, as my position as vice president of a public relations agency entails writing hundreds of articles on a variety of topics -- all of which are published under other people's bylines.

I have now decided to write for myself again, and most importantly, about what I love -- dogs.

My passion for dogs and all animals has always been a large part of my life, but was further ignited in January, 2002 when I adopted my four-legged "baby", Chase, from our local no-kill animal shelter. Chase has transformed me in more ways than I can describe. Most of all, he has propelled me into the often sad but sometimes uplifting world of animal rescue (and it is those uplifting moments that make it all worthwhile). Since adopting Chase, I have been a volunteer at the shelter that saved him, donating thousands of hours of personal time as well as writing and publicity skills to increase their visibility. I'm proud to say that it's worked, and that I now also serve on the shelter's board of directors, where I am even more involved in its day-to-day activities.

My passion for dogs has also led me to the project about which I am most proud to date, a Web site called The Happy Dog Spot (www.the-happy-dog-spot.com), dedicated to providing visitors with free information and advice regarding the adoption and care of our canine companions.

It is my extreme pleasure to be able to combine my two life's passions -- writing and dogs -- and bring useful information to readers of Suite101.com.
